Hoeck

Im ‘Wilhelm Hoeck’ ist vor zehn drinnen noch einer der Bartische in tresennähe frei. Die Barfrau schliesst den Aussenbereich und Leute kommen rein. Eine Gruppe von drei Männern setzt sich zu mir an den Tisch. Ich zeichne bereits und sie fragen höflich, ob sie stören, aber nein, sie müssten allerdings damit leben, jetzt zu meinen Modellen zu gehören und das stört sie nicht.

In ‘Wilhelm Hoeck’, one of the bar tables near the bar is still free before ten. The barmaid closes the outside area and people come in. A group of three men sits down at the table with me. I’m already drawing and they politely ask if they’re intruding, but no, they’d have to live with being one of my models now, though, and they don’t mind.

Die drei unterhalten sich. Ein Kneipenbesuch halt. Ein Zeichner hat die Ohren frei und hört alles mit. Das ist manchmal nett und manchmal interessant und manchmal ernüchternd und ich bin häufig diskret.

The three of them are talking. A visit to a pub. A draughtsman has unoccupied ears and hears everything. That is sometimes nice and sometimes interesting and sometimes sobering and I am often discreet.
