Wegen Pandemie fahren keine Busse mehr vom Zentralen Omnibusbahnhof am Messedamm ab. Auch die Bauarbeiten stehen still – seit 2016 wird der ZOB im laufenden Betrieb erneuert – die Bussteige sind fast fertig und das Dach vor der Wartehalle bereits abgerissen. Nun wird weder gebaut noch gefahren. Drei Skizzen aus den letzten beiden Wochen:
Due to pandemic, no more buses are leaving the central bus station at Messedamm. Construction work has been halted as well – the central bus station has been undergoing renovation during ongoing operations since 2016 – the bus platforms are almost finished and the roof in front of the waiting hall is already demolished. Now there is neither construction nor traffic. Three sketches from the last two weeks:

Neben mir auf der Anzeigentafel wird akribisch aufgeführt, welche Busse alle entfallen. Es fährt bis morgen kein einziger. Nur ganz hinten, am letzten der neuen Steige kommt ein Bus an, einige Leute, alle mit Atemmasken, laufen hier an der Halle vorbei und werden lautstark von einem Taxifahrer eingesammelt. Dann ist es still, die letzten Steige zur Halle sind fast fertig, aber zur Zeit arbeitet niemand, das Baumaterial liegt herum. Bald sind nur noch ein Wachmann und ich auf dem Gelände.
Next to me on the scoreboard is a careful list of all the buses that are cancelled. Not a single one is running until tomorrow. Only at the very back, at the last of the new platforms a bus arrives, some people, all with face masks, walk past the hall and are collected loudly by a taxi driver. Then it is quiet, the last platforms to the hall are almost finished, but at the moment nobody is working, building material is piled on the ground. Soon only one guard and me will be on the area.

ZOB am Freitagabend ohne Busse und Menschen. Ein Wachmann fragt was ich mache – zeichnen – darf ich mal schauen – ja klar. Er sieht es stimmt. Er hätte gedacht, ich würde vielleicht auf einen Bus warten, sagt er. Er ist zufrieden und nett und geht und ich bin ganz allein.
ZOB on Friday night without buses and people. A security guard asks what I’m doing – drawing – may I have a look – yes of course. He sees it is true. He thought I might be waiting for a bus, he says. He is satisfied and nice and leaves and I am all alone.

Über dem geschlossenen CUCCIS stehen noch Reste der alten Struktur, die Querschnitte der abgeschnittenen Hauptträger (die konische Form bemerkte man nicht, als sie noch heile waren), gekappte Kabelbündel, Trapezblech. Tauben.
Above the closed CUCCIS there are still remains of the old structure, the cross sections of the cut main beams (the conical shape was not to be noticed when they were still intact), cut cable bundles, trapezoidal sheet metal. Pigeons.
