Auf der abschließenden Kundgebung der ‚All Eyes on Gaza‘ – Demonstration am Großen Stern in Berlin, 27.09.2025 – gegen deutsche Waffenlieferungen an Israel und für eine entschlossene Positionierung gegen den Genozid an den Palästinensern in Gaza, aufgerufen von Medico International und Amnesty Deutschland . Ich bin, wie nach Veranstalterangaben mehr als 100 000, da. Die Veranstalter geben vor allem palästinensischen Stimmen Raum. Die Schilderung – wie die von Iman Abu Qomsan über ihre Angehörigen – von Vertreibung, Exil und Ermordung sind erschütternd und hoffnungslos, die Kraft, mit der erzählt wird, bewundernswert. Es ist gut, hier zu sein, trotzdem ich es nicht bis zu Ende aushalte (wegen aufkeimender Angst in der engen Menschenmenge – ich bin nahe der Bühne und hier ist es sehr eng -, aber auch inhaltlicher Konflikte). Ich verstehe die unbedingte Notwendigkeit, das Töten zu stoppen. Es gibt wohl nichts Versöhnliches zu sagen. Die Schilderungen des Vorgehens der IDF verursachen mir die gleiche Erschütterung, wie es die Schilderung des von der Hamas begangenen Massakers am 7. Oktober 2023 tat. Dieses rechtfertigt das Töten nicht, und keinen Genozid. Und nur insofern wird der 7. Oktober erwähnt, dieses Massaker wird aus den Zusammenhängen entfernt, die ausschließlich als Kolonisierung Palästinas durch Israel erzählt werden. Es werden Seiten eingenommen, die Taten der ‘eigenen’ Seite gefiltert. Wo es keine Hoffnung gibt, da wird nur noch die Schuld geklärt.
Oft höre ich, dass die, die hier seien, auf der ‚richtigen Seite‘ seien, dass man dann erzählen könne, wo man gewesen sei, wenn die Enkel fragen. Vermutlich bin auch ich deswegen hier. Wenn das alles ist, ist es unendlich traurig (und das ist es natürlich sowieso).

At the closing rally of the “All Eyes on Gaza” demonstration at the Großer Stern in Berlin on 27 September 2025 – against German arms deliveries to Israel and for a resolute stance against the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, called for by Medico International and Amnesty Germany. According to the organisers, I am one of more than 100,000 people here. The organisers give space primarily to Palestinian voices. The accounts – such as that of Iman Abu Qomsan about her relatives – of expulsion, exile and murder are harrowing and hopeless, but the strength with which they are told is admirable. It is good to be here, even though I cannot stay until the end (due to a growing sense of fear in the dense crowd – I am close to the stage and it is very crowded here – but also due to conflicts regarding the content). I understand the absolute necessity of stopping the killing. There is probably nothing conciliatory to say. The descriptions of the IDF’s actions cause me the same shock as the description of the massacre committed by Hamas on 7 October 2023 did. This does not justify killing, nor genocide. And only in this respect is 7 October mentioned; this massacre is removed from the context, which is told exclusively as the colonisation of Palestine by Israel. Sides are taken, the actions of one’s “own” side are filtered. Where there is no hope, only guilt is clarified.
I often hear that those who are here are on the “right side”, that they will be able to tell their grandchildren where they were when they ask. That is probably why I am here too. If that is all there is to it, it is infinitely sad (and of course it is anyway).
