Heute ist es kalt und windig, aber sonnig. Ich komme vom S-Bahnhof in ‘Nieder-Schöneweide’ und laufe durch die Wohnungsneubauten am Südufer der Spree zum Kaisersteg und bleibe über der Mitte des Flusses stehen. Über die Fußgängerbrücke laufen, Sonntagsspaziergänger und manchmal Jogger, dann schaukelt die Gehbahn der Schrägseilbrücke sanft.
Vor dem ‘Kabelwerk Oberspree’ aufwärts am Ober-Schöneweidener Ufer der Spree liegen ein paar rostige große und leere Kabelspulen. Laut Wikipedia werden hier seit Ende der 1990er Jahre keine Kabel mehr produziert. Die meisten Gebäude des Kabelwerkes werden jetzt von der ‘Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft’ genutzt.
Die beiden Betonriegel am Nordufer neben dem Kaisersteg scheinen leer zu stehen. Die Fenster sind dunkel und schmutzig und manche Fenster sind kaputt. Auf dem Uferstreifen stehen ein paar Boote auf Trailern.
Kurz nach drei gehe ich weiter, zum ‘Industriesalon Schöneweide’, einem der vielen für Kulturzwecken umgenutzten Industriegebäude hier am Spreeufer.

Today it’s cold and windy, but sunny. I come from the S-Bahn station in ‘Nieder-Schöneweide’ and walk through the new housing developments on the south bank of the Spree to the Kaisersteg and stop over the middle of the river. Sunday walkers and sometimes joggers cross the pedestrian bridge, then the walkway of the cable-stayed bridge rocks gently.
In front of the Oberspree cable factory upstream on the Ober-Schöneweiden bank of the Spree are a few large, empty, rusty cable reels. According to Wikipedia, cables have no longer been produced here since the late 1990s. The buildings of the cable factory are mainly used by the ‘Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft’ (University of Applied Sciences).
The two concrete blocks on the north bank next to the Kaisersteg appear to be empty. The windows are dark and dirty and some windows are broken. There are a few boats on trailers on the bank.
Shortly after three, I walk on to the ‘Industriesalon Schöneweide’, one of the many industrial buildings on the Spree that have been converted for cultural purposes.
