Protect the Protest

Ich folge dem Aufruf von Amnesty International in Deutschland zur Demonstration “PROTECT THE PROTEST – in Solidarität mit de Menschen im Iran” heute, am Sonntag den 18.1.2026.

I am responding to the call by Amnesty International in Germany to take part in the demonstration ‘PROTECT THE PROTEST – in solidarity with the people of Iran’ today, Sunday, 18 January 2026.

Auf der Kundgebung am Brandenburger Tor beschreiben Redner unterschiedlicher Organisation die Gewalt des Regimes gegen die Proteste für einen Regimewechsel im Iran. In den letzten drei Wochen seien mehr als 12 000 Menschen getötet und unzählige verletzt und verhaftet worden. Es wird gefordert, die Revolutionsgarden auf die Terrorliste zu setzen, Abschiebungen in den Iran sofort auszusetzen und humanitäre Visa wieder zu vergeben.

At the rally at the Brandenburg Gate, speakers from various organisations describe the regime’s violence against the protests calling for regime change in Iran. In the last three weeks, more than 12,000 people have been killed and countless others injured and arrested. They demand that the Revolutionary Guards be placed on the terror list, that deportations to Iran be suspended immediately and that humanitarian visas be reissued.

Der Demonstrationszug geht durch das Regierungsviertel und dann bis zum Roten Rathaus. Jin Jîyan Azadî – Frau, Leben Freiheit, der im Iran bei den Protesten nach der Ermordung von Jina Mahsa Amini 2022 genutzte Slogan, wird oft und in mehren Sprachen gerufen.

Hier kann man eine Petition an Kanzler Merz zum Einsatz für die Terrorlistung der IR, der Vorbereitung von sowohl internationaler als auch nationaler Strafverfolgung der Täter des Terroregimes, Aussetzungen von Abschiebungen in den Iran und wiedereinführung des humanitären Visa unterschreiben.

The demonstration march passes through the government district and then on to the Red Town Hall. Jin Jîyan Azadî – Woman, Life, Freedom, the slogan used in Iran during the protests following the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini in 2022, is chanted frequently and in several languages.

Here you can sign a petition to Chancellor Merz calling for the IR to be placed on the list of terrorist organisations, for preparations to be made for both international and national prosecution of the perpetrators of the terrorist regime, for deportations to Iran to be suspended, and for humanitarian visas to be reintroduced.
