Residenzstraße

Sonntag nachmittags sitze ich auf dem Mittelstreifen der Residenzstraße. Gegenüber ist die Cafe Bar 54. Zuerst kommt der Besitzer des Motorrads davor rüber und guckt. Natürlich will er wissen, warum ich sein Motorrad zeichne – mit meinen notgedrungen vagen Erklärungen ist er zufrieden, er habe Zeit, ich soll winken, wenn ich seine Honda fertig gemalt habe. Als ich das mache, setzt er sein Auto auf den Platz der Honda, bevor er mit der wegfährt. Vorher hat er erklärt, dass die eigentlich immer da stehe, jetzt weiss ich, wir er das hinkriegt.
Irgendwann kommt auch der Wirt gucken, verschwindet aber schnell wieder.
Neben dem ‘Cafe’ ist noch das ‘Cafe am Park’ und die ‘Melodi Bar’. Durch einen Durchgang auf der anderen Straßenseite erreicht man tatsächlich den Park am Schäfersee, von dem man hier an der vierspurigen Straße aber nichts spürt. Zumindest sind die drei Läden abends auf der Sonnenseite.
Jetzt sitze ich vor der Bar 54. Drinnen sind Spielautomaten und eine große Yuka-Palme. Draussen Plexiglasscheiben mit floralem Muster auf den Tischen.

On sunday afternoon I’m sitting on the central strip of Residenzstraße. Opposite is Cafe Bar 54, and the owner of the motorbike in front of it comes over to have a look. Of course he wants to know why I’m drawing his motorbike – he’s satisfied with my necessarily vague explanations, he has time, I should wave when I’ve finished drawing his Honda. As I do so, he parks his car in the Honda’s spot before driving off with it. He had previously explained that it was always there, but now I know how he manages it.
At some point, the landlord comes over to have a look, but quickly disappears again.
Next to the ‘Cafe’ is the ‘Cafe am Park’ and the ‘Melodi Bar’. Through a passageway on the other side of the road, you can actually reach the park by the Schäfersee, but you can’t feel anything of it here on the four-lane road. At least the three places are on the sunny side in the evening.
Now I’m sitting in front of Bar 54, inside there are slot machines and a large yuka palm tree. Plexiglass panes with a floral pattern on the tables outside.
