Um zum Pariser Platz hinter dem Brandenburger Tor zu kommen, muss ich die Straße des 17. Juni entlang und dort stehen Traktoren der protestierenden Bauern. Ich höre und lese gerade viel über den Reformbedarf in der Landwirtschafts-Politik. Auf den an den Traktoren befestigten Schildern lese ich allerdings nur Wut und Wunsch nach Anerkennung. Auf viele Spanplatten wurde fast wortgleich von Hand etwas wie “Butter, Brot und Bier – das machen WIR” geschrieben. Sonst hauptsächlich hasserfüllte Diffamierungen der Ampelregierung (mit besonderer Betonung der Grünen) und regelrechte Drohungen (wirkungsvoll kombiniert mit sehr großen, PS-starken Fahrzeugen und lauten Hupen).
Es gibt einige Lagerfeuer in Feuerschalen oder Öfen mit darüber angeordneten Tischen. Ich zeichne eine Gruppe an einem Tisch und belausche Gespräche – man stehe früh auf und arbeite während ‘die Anderen’ (Politiker , Städter vielleicht, wer weiß) in den Sessel furzten und tausende von Euro scheffelten. Nun gut, wo fängt man da an.
Nach zwei Zeichnungen gehe ich weiter, zum Pariser Platz.
To get to Pariser Platz behind the Brandenburg Gate, I have to walk along Straße des 17. Juni, where there are tractors belonging to protesting farmers. I hear and read a lot about the need for reform in agricultural policy. But all I can read on the tractors is anger and a desire for recognition. On many chipboards, something like “Butter, bread and beer – that’s what WE do” was written several times in nearly the same words by hand. Otherwise mainly hate-filled defamation of the current government (with particular emphasis on the Greens) and outright threats (effectively combined with very large, powerful vehicles and loud horns).
There are a few bonfires in fire bowls or ovens with tables arranged above them. I draw a group at a table and overhear conversations – you get up early and work while ‘the others’ (politicians, townspeople perhaps, who knows) fart in their armchairs and rake in thousands of euros. Well, where do you start?
After two drawings, I walk on to Pariser Platz.
Dort nehme ich an der Demonstration zur “Verteidigung der Demokratie” teil. Unter dem Eindruck des von der Rechercheplattform Correctiv aufgedeckten Treffen rechter Politiker mit Faschismusfantasien hat Fridays for Future diese Demonstration initiiert und viele Organisationen zum Mitmachen gewonnen (Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband, Campact, Jusos Berlin, Omas gegen Rechts, Vitsche, und einige mehr).
Den auf dem genannten Treffen besprochenen Vertreibungsfantasien wird unser solidarisches Weltbild entgegengestellt, wir fordern ein Verbot der AfD, Redner der Jungen Arbeitsgemeinschaft bäuerliche Landwirtschaft beklagen eine Vereinnahmung des Protestes der Bauern für eine bessere Agrarpolitik durch rechte Gruppen, es gibt berührende Reden und Musikbeiträge. Und es ist kalt. Trotzdem kommen nach Veranstalter-Angabe 25 000 Teilnehmer (nach Augenschein auf jeden Fall plausibler als die Polizeiangaben von 1500, Pariser Platz war dicht gepackt voll, …)
There I am taking part in the demonstration in “defence of democracy”. Fridays for Future initiated this demonstration under the impression of the meeting of right-wing politicians with fascist fantasies uncovered by the research platform Correctiv and won many organisations to participate (Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband, Campact, Jusos Berlin, Omas gegen Rechts, Vitsche, and some more).
The fantasies of expulsion discussed at the aforementioned meeting are countered by our solidary world view, we demand a ban on the AfD, speakers from the Young Farmers’ Working Group complain that the farmers’ protest for a better agricultural policy is being appropriated by right-wing groups, there are touching speeches and musical contributions. And it’s cold. Nevertheless, according to the organisers, 25,000 participants turn up (which is certainly more plausible than the police estimate of 1,500 Pariser Platz was packed…)
