Val Müstair

Am Montag kommen wir am Nachmittag in Sta Maria im Val Müstair zur ‘USk-Week’ an. Wir essen im Restaurant des Hotels Crusch-Alba an der Durchfahrtstrasse des Dorfes. Schwalben jagen vor dem dunkler werdenden Himmel über dem Bergblick Insekten.

On Monday we arrive in Sta Maria in the Val Müstair in the afternoon for ‘USk-Week’. We have lunch in the restaurant of the Hotel Crusch-Alba on the main road of the village. Swallows hunt insects in front of the darkening sky above the mountain view.

Am Dienstag gehen wir auf dem etwas über dem Tal gelegenen ‘Senda Val Müstair’ nach Müstair zum Kloster und zurück direkt am Rambach entlang. Der kleine Fluss rauscht über Steine. Auf einer kleinen Insel stehen ein paar Steinmännchen.

On Tuesday we go on the ‘Senda Val Müstair’, which is situated a bit above the valley, to Müstair to the monastery and back directly along the Rambach. The small river rushes over stones. On a small island there are some stone men.

Mittwochs gibt es eine Gruppenwanderung vom Ofenpass nach Lü. Wegen des durchwachsenen Wetters gibt es nur einen Zeichenstop an der ‘Alp du Munt’.

On Wednesdays there is a group hike from the Ofenpass to Lü. Because of the mixed weather there is only one drawing stop at the ‘Alp du Munt’.

Wir wohnen in der ‘Chasa Jaro’ an der ‘Muranzina’ die hier steinern eingefasst ins Tal zum Rambach rauscht. Die Wirtin Janine erzählt, dass einige Mauern des Hauses 800 Jahre alt sind. Sie hat das verschachtelte Haus sehr schön renoviert. Neben Gästezimmern gibt es die ‘Bar Barlaina’, in der wir frühstücken und nachtessen.

We live in the ‘Chasa Jaro’ at the ‘Muranzina’, which is here surrounded by stone and rushes down into the valley to the Rambach. The landlady Janine tells us that some walls of the house are 800 years old. She has renovated the nested house very nicely. Beside guest rooms there is the ‘Bar Barlaina’, where we have breakfast and dinner.

Von Sta Maria haben wir bei der Ankunft zuerst die Einfahrt mit der Tankstelle Umbrail gesehen. Man sollte das Auto besser auf dem Parkplatz rechts davor lassen – die Durchfahrt durchs Dorf ist sehr eng. Trotzdem geht der ganze Verkehr das Tal entlang hier durch, Busse, landwirtschaftliche Fahrzeuge, PKW etc. – die Bewohner warten daher mehrstenteils sehnsüchtig auf die seit 1997 geplante Süd-Umfahrung des Dorfes.

From Sta Maria we first saw the entrance with the gas station Umbrail on our arrival. It is better to leave the car on the parking lot right in front of it – the passage through the village is very narrow. Nevertheless, all the valleys traffic goes through here along – buses, agricultural vehicles, cars etc. – Therefore the inhabitants are waiting longingly for the southern bypass of the village, which has been planned since 1997.
