Heute hat das PAS 7ten Geburtstag. Ich hab diesen wunderbaren Veranstaltungsort in einem Industriegebäude an der Spree erst im März 2022 entdeckt und gehe seither dauernd dorthin.
Heute gab es am Nachmittag ‘Music For The Cosmos’:
Double Prismatic Rainbow – Derek Shirley, Bryan Eubanks, Catherine Lamb und Xavier Lopez – spielen auf dem schmalen Uferstreifen vor dem Gebäude. Die meisten Zuschauer sitzen wie wir am anderen Ufer der Spree und hören zu.
Ab und zu kommt ein Ausflugsboot vorbei. Auf einem der Boote wird gerade die Geschichte des Gebäudes erläutert: Es war das ‘Druckhaus Norden’, in dem bis 1989, hier in und für West Berlin, die SED-nahe Publikation ‘Die Wahrheit’ hergestellt wurde.
Nachdem das Boot weg ist, hört man wieder nur Musik. Der Kosmos enthält hier heute Regen und Wind. Der Wind weht in einer Regenpause meinen Schirm in die Spree. Wir haben noch eine kleine Plane, unter deren Schutz ich die Zeichnung fertig pinsele, bevor ich zur Geburtstagsfeier auf das andere Ufer wechsele. Die findet zuerst am Ufer, und später dann in den Räumen des PAS in 1. Obergeschoss darüber statt.
Today is the PAS’s 7th birthday. I only discovered this wonderful venue in an industrial building on the Spree in March 2022 and have been going there ever since.
Today there was ‘Music For The Cosmos’ in the afternoon:
Double Prismatic Rainbow – Derek Shirley, Bryan Eubanks, Catherine Lamb and Xavier Lopez – play on the narrow strip of riverbank in front of the building. Like us, most of the audience are sitting on the other bank of the Spree and listening.
Every now and then a pleasure boat passes by. The history of the building is being explained on one of the boats: it was the ‘Druckhaus Norden’, where, her in and for West Berlin, the SED-affiliated publication ‘Die Wahrheit’ was produced until 1989.
After the boat has gone, all you hear is music again. The cosmos here today contains rain and wind. During a break in the rain, the wind blows my umbrella into the Spree. We still have a small tarpaulin under whose protection I finish the drawing before I move to the other bank for the birthday party. It takes place first on the bank and then later in the PAS rooms on the first floor above.
