Ein wenig aufwärts der Kleinmachnower Schleuse weitet sich der Teltowkanal zum Machnower See. Dessen nördliches Ufer leuchtet in gemischten Herbstfarben in der Nachmittagssonne. Zwei Kajakfahrer kommen von dort zu mir herüber gepaddelt und steigen genau wo ich sitze aus.
Vor dem Nordufer markieren zwei Bojen die Fahrrinne – manchmal fahren grosse Schubverbände von der Schleuse kommend den Kanal hinauf. Angler werfen ihre Angeln von einem Motorboot aus. Um fünf ist das Licht fast weg und der Wald des Nordufers spiegelt sich farblos dunkel im See.
A little upstream of Kleinmachnower Schleuse the Teltow Canal widens to Lake Machnow. Its northern shore glows in mixed autumn colours in the afternoon sun. Two kayakers come paddling over to me from there and get off right where I am sitting.
In front of the north bank two buoys mark the fairway – sometimes big pushing units come from the lock and go up the channel. Anglers cast their rods from a motor boat. At five the light is almost gone and the forest on the north bank is reflected in the lake as a colourless dark shape.
